 A água-marinha é uma variedade azul-clara do berilo, mesma família da esmeralda. O nome vem do latim aqua marina (“água do mar”), em referência à sua cor que lembra as águas claras do oceano.

• Composição química: berílio, alumínio, silicato (Be₃Al₂(SiO₃)₆).

• Cores: azul-claro a azul-esverdeado, podendo ser quase transparente.

GARIMPO DE OPALA NOBRE- PEDRO II PIAUÍ

 

 

Saímos cedo em nosso valente Kangoo para conhecer a cidade de Pedro II, que fica a 150 km de Piracuruca e a 600 metros de altitude.

Esta localização torna a cidade menos quente do que as outras cidades do Piauí. Pedro II é conhecida no estado por várias coisas. Uma delas é pela produção de Opalas nobres.

Como o nome já diz, este é o tipo mais precioso de Opala que só é encontrado aqui em Pedro II e em uma mina na Austrália.

Eu não tinha idéia como era esta pedra preciosa e fiquei impressionado com a beleza. É como se dentro dela tivesse várias outras pedras coloridas emitindo cores em todos os matizes.

Cientificamente, a razão para tantas cores são micro-esferas no interior da pedra, que refletem a luz em todas as direções. Talvez por isto, as opalas brilhem mais quando estão molhadas.

Logo que chegamos, fomos recebidos pelo Juscelino, um negociante e lapidador de pedras que tem uma loja chamada Opalas Pedro II, bem na entrada da cidade.

Ele nos mostrou uma impressionante coleção de gemas e nos convidou para acompanharmos uma lapidação completa, desde a pedra bruta até o polimento da gema.

Foi fascinante ver uma pedra quase sem brilho se transformar em duas jóias, uma em forma de coração e outra em forma de gota.

Depois do almoço, ele nos levou no próprio carro até uma das minas de extração. O interessante foi que esta mina que visitamos foi descoberta a pouco mais de uma semana.

Neste período, o número de mineiros subiu de 10 para quase 200. No meio da mata, encontramos diversas crateras cavadas com pás e picaretas.

Parecia até que a floresta havia sido bombardeada. O material extraído é peneirado e depois lavado, e somente após este processo é que os garimpeiros começam a procurar as opalas em meio a pedraria.

Segundo me contaram, às vezes passa-se semanas sem encontrar nada e de repente surge a sorte grande: uma pedra de cinco ou vinte mil reais.

Parece muito, mais não é. Como trabalham sempre em 4 pessoas, o valor da venda tem que ser dividido e, sabe-se lá quando vão encontrar outra.

No dia em que estivemos ali, dos 50 grupos de homens, apenas 2 ou 3 haviam achado alguma coisa.

É lógico que a Família também procurou, mas infelizmente não achamos nada. Achamos sim um novo amigo, o Juscelino, que nos presenteou com muito conhecimento, algumas pedras brutas e uma jóia lapidada.

Esta vai para o nosso museu. Quem vier, verá!

Como o dia teve muitas atividades, resolvemos dormir na cidade. O dono do Hotel Opala (nem podia ser outro nome) onde ficamos é também um lapidador e negociador de pedras. Ele é o simpático Bené do Tucum.

Ele tem este nome devido ao fato de ele ter sido o primeiro a fazer jóias usando a Opala incrustada na semente do Tucum. Uma ótima idéia por sinal.
